Dyslexia Explained
–
Dyslexia – What is it?
The Oxford English Dictionary defines dyslexia as a disorder involving
difficulty in learning to read words, letters and other symbols.
Dyslexia literally means 'trouble with words'. It is the term used to
describe difficulties with spelling, writing and reading. The challenges
can come in many different forms and are not limited to reversals of
letters and words, a common misconception.
Dyslexia Australia’s definition: A visual and experiential
learning style that requires specific and alternative teaching methods
in order to avoid learning disabilities and enhance abilities.
